Shannon Group encountered significant challenges while conducting works directly on the edge of a river. The project required the construction of a deep pit and the upgrade of the stormwater network. River water and flood conditions added complexity, necessitating the construction of a deep pit and the rerouting of stormwater piping. The task involved building a new 8m by 4m deep pit on the river’s edge and rerouting 50 meters of stormwater piping between two catchment pits.
In response to these challenges, Shannon Group deployed comprehensive water management solutions. The area was sheet piled to provide necessary structural support and prevent soil erosion. Advanced dewatering techniques were employed to manage the river water and flood conditions effectively. This approach allowed for the safe and efficient construction of the deep pit. The stormwater piping was meticulously rerouted between the catchment pits, ensuring minimal disruption to the existing water flow and maintaining the integrity of the stormwater network.
